Presidents

So it's almost that time again. ELECTION DAY! But as for me, I don't think I really care at this point! Although I am too young to vote, and don't really have a voice in this "free country" but honestly, I don't really want either of them as president! They never even answered the questions during the debates! I'm not trying to "brain-wash" people into hating the presidents or anything. I'm just giving my opinion. Tell you the truth, my whole social studies class would probably vote for our teacher! He gave a speech that had everything us Americans would want to hear. He even explained how we need an average man/woman to be the president. Think about it. These guys are rich!!! They don't understand what we're all dealing with in the economy! And when one of them become the president, we want them to keep their promises right? Again, I'm not trying to argue. In fact, you can all scream at me after you read this if you want. I'm only giving my own opinion. We need an average person to become the president, so they understand what's really happening in our economy. Again, this was only my opinion, feel free to tell me your opinion. Maybe you can even convince me to wish I could vote for one side more than the other. Give me reasons, because right now, I'm just an average, 8th grade girl, who doesn't really care at this point. Help me out here! Who do you think should win: McCain or Obama?

You said that an average person needs to be president so that they know what we're going through? Although both Obama and McCain are both trying to help the average 'Joe the Plumber' and they're both going to use fiscal policy to do so, they will go about it in different ways. Before I even explain, I can already tell you'll probably be an Obama supporter (like me).

First of all, both candidates ARE going to cut taxes and increase government spending, as this is the definition of an expansionary fiscal policy.

McCain is going to cut taxes for the upper-class people and big businesses while spending the government's money to buy troubled mortgages. In theory, this should work as a trickle-down effect, and I think that it would given a different set of circumstances, but...
It doesn't work. Not now, at least. Bush has already tried the same sort of thing with the bailout, but it's not working much at all.

However, Obama is going to cut taxes for the middle-class, the lower-class, and small businesses. He is also going to spend the government's money on public works to give more people jobs. Not only does this decrease unemployment, it also increases the amount of money that the middle- and lower-class people hold. Once they have that, they will (or they should) go out and spend it on something that was made by the big businesses (or any business, really) and then the money multiplier will go into affect. I'll give an example of money multiplier now.

Alright, let's say that there's a middle-class family, mom and dad, that has a teenage daughter like you. When Obama cuts taxes for the middle- and lower-class people, that family will have more money on hand. Therefore, they'll be able to give some of that money to...oh, say...their teenage daughter. To go buy video games (xD). But then the money goes to, ah, Nintendo of America. Then the money that they get from that will be used to pay an employee. Then that employee will have that money to go spend. Let's say the employee is Bob. Bob gets paid at his job at Nintendo of America and decides he wants to go eat at a restaurant with his girlfriend. So he goes and pays the restaurant with part of the money that he got from his paycheck. Then the restaurant uses that to pay its employees. Do you see where this is going? It 'increases' the amount of money in circulation.

I hope this helped! I'm an Obama supporter, and I'm sorry that this is a bit biased towards him. If you want, I can post how the trickle-down effect might work (McCain's thing). It's very similar to the money multiplier. ^^ We're having a mock election at my school, and I think that Obama will win.
